Jonathan Adler is well known for his use of Hollywood Regency decor in design. Bamboo lacquered furniture has been the ideal choice in many of his decorating schemes for a number of years. Many people think Adler along side designer Kelly Wearstler are solely responsible for the craze for vintage Hollywood Regency decorating in the last 10 years. Adler is also well known for his painted furniture, textiles and knick-knacks. A potter by trade, Adler sold his first designs to Barneys New York in 1993 and opened his first retail store in Manhattan in 1998. Many people recognize him from the hit Bravo TV series Top Design where he was a judge. His company "Jonathan Adler" sells everything from decorative objects, tabletop collections, furniture, rugs, throw pillows, and lighting. He features a number of nicely polished brass bamboo pieces that are terrific!

This beautiful painted Bamboo cabinet is one of the prettiest examples of painted bamboo furniture. The paint options are limitless! This lovely bamboo cabinet is sold by Suktan Chic 110 Norwood Avenue in Elberon NJ. As you look at the cabinet you can see they lightly brushed the cabinet with some darker paint. In the past, I have achieved this look by using brown oil paint which is lightly brushed on. The larger the brush the better for this technique. I dip in my brush into the paint, and take a rag, and remove virtually all the paint on the brush, leaving a small remnant of paint on the bristles. Then brush over the ornate details of the furniture, and the oil paint will leave a nice highlight on the surface areas you want to draw attention to. This can add some extra detail to your painted bamboo furniture.
The Gatz is one of my favorite ebay stores to visit. Their store -Gatsby Collection is their physical store in Maryland. They are direct importers of vintage European furniture and contemporary furnishings. They visit Europe many times during the year and have a wide network of dealers to assist them with special pieces. Their staff in Europe hand picks every piece they import as well as purchases directly from homes so they can offer the best value on select pieces. They have containers full of furniture arriving from Europe every 2 to 3 months. They also design and import architectural garden items from Asia. They also have a network of iron and marble factories who specialize in solid quality marble mantles, sinks, statuary, gazebos as well as many other items. They always seem to have such unique and interesting furniture for their Ebay store.
Kenedita, a ebay dealer out of Sarasota, FL, always seems to have great faux bamboo furniture. Their furniture is raw, sold in the vintage form without any paint applied to their furniture giving you a clean and untouched palette to work with. Much of their bamboo furniture is priced quite reasonably which allows you to put together rooms of bamboo furniture at a budget.
Life in The Fun Lane published a picture of a re-conditioned vintage bamboo table painted in a coral pink. .......AND DOES IT Look Hot! If you have a free personality that can handle color, consider some of your favorite colors to accent your house than the classic black, white, and cream. If you are able to do something striking, bamboo is the one style that can take bold color! Finding the just-right-color can often take months to decide as you figure out your style. The right colors can make all the difference in your homes interior. Painting furniture can also allow you to coordinate with some vivid fabrics and geometric patterns you wouldn't otherwise have chosen. Consider working with the tropical colors for your next bamboo makeover.
Celerie Kemble's is a hot name in the modern and eclectic design movement because she incorporates so much classic vintage furniture in her designs. Being a native of Palm Beach, it is no wonder that bamboo furniture is incorporated in many of her designs. She tells Elle Decor she adores textures like linen and sea grass. She is truly a glam girl right down to her bones as she rambles off some of the staples to Hollywood Regency decorating; stone, glass, Lucite, lacquer, wool, silk, and silk velvet. She has two guides Celerie Kemble: To Your Taste: Creating Modern Rooms with a Traditional Twist, and Black and White (and a Bit in Between): Timeless Interiors, Dramatic Accents, and Stylish Collections, both which show you how to put together an eclectic home with interesting and unique furnishings. The guide is packed with written information that it was written in a nine-point font to jam in all her advice. The 256-page volume takes you step by step with key information showing you how to design rooms that are elegant and personal. Designer Celerie Kemble’s philosophy in a nutshell: blending a tasteful design with humor to achieve a home that you can laugh, play, work and live your life in. Celerie details her many signature interiors, and enthusiastically reassures you that, with the right information and attitude, you can overcome challenges and artfully achieve the ultimate designed home.
